Gorgeous Jewel is now 7 years old, such a sweet natured girl she even before being broken in used to let Alecia sit on her back often!
Julie’s whippet Billie walks in and around her feet, and Jewel doesn’t mind, in fact she doesn’t even seem to notice.
Gypsy Jewel was a gift to Julie from her Dad who was brought up in Bingara, in New England Region in upper NSW. His dad – Julie’s ‘Pop’ – was known as ‘Brickie’ being a Bricklayer, a Drover, and Race Horse breeder and trainer. Julies dad was one of 10 siblings – families used to be very big back then!!!
Gypsy Jewel is a 100% Gypsy Cob very rare in Australia – just 13.1 hands high – with the gentle nature of a Clydesdale.
The Gypsy Romany peoples of the British Isles developed them to be strong enough to pull the Gypsy Caravan, and nice natured enough to be handled, led, and cared for by the under ten girls and boys – the children of the Romany.
