The creek that crosses Morvern Valley is Coal Creek, and it tumbles delightfully over Erith Coal Mine Falls just next door in The Morton National Park.
The bushwalk is only about 45 minutes and is very interesting – you can peer into the mines and read the history!
Walking just a few meters more takes you down to the base of the fall and you can swim in the crisp clean pool found here, take a picnic – there is a great area to sit, you can skip stones and make a whole day in this quiet very beautiful place.

Since just before Christmas we have been excitedly awaiting our Miniature Cow. Just perfect for our farm Mini Galloways are known for their quiet docile nature – perfect for a farm stay where you have young children and even guests past 90! They will stand quietly while you pat them just loving the attention.
They come in a variety of colours, but are quite rare in Australia, we even had to ‘preorder’ our baby! We are so lucky as the calf was born the perfect colour we had hoped for, Julie’s favourite – fluffy white with black tips, just gorgeous and cute even when fully grown.
We are not sure of the exact date but we are looking at Curly’s arrival to be in Winter when Curly is old enough to be weaned and able to be separated from his Mum. The quality stud we are getting Curly from has been cuddling and hand feeding him daily since birth, knowing he was needing to be extra kindly and friendly for our farm stay.

Try your luck panning for gold. Our Creek is Coal Creek it leads into Bundanoon Creek, where many prospectors found gold last century. Head down to our creek in the tree line, down past the Cubby House, and you will find a picnic table.
Here are several Gold Pans, and a Sign to help you find your fortune. Swish and Swirl, Swish and Swirl – specks and flakes of gold being a very heavy metal will settle into the base of the specially designed gold pans. Be patient the longer you Swish and Swirl, Swish and Swirl, the more chance you have! Remember to congratulate little ones with all their finds.
In your cottage are little clear plastic containers – take your flecks of gold home with you – a great ‘Show and Tell’ adventure when they return to school. Children will be thrilled to be seeking treasure. A great NEW reason to get wet and muddy at the farm!

Wobbly, wet and super cute – our best year ever at Morvern Valley with 4 tiny pedigree Suffolk lambs all born within 3 days! After returning from a day up in Sydney, Jason the farmer, went down to check on all the animals and what a surprise… first he sees one new little lamb drinking strongly from it’s mum ‘Baa Baa’, then turns around to look at the others – and sees yet another little lambie with its mum ‘Baabara’. Then came yet another surprise!
He looked over and ‘Barbie’ was delivering hers – OMG! All the lucky guests were thrilled too! We popped the ewes all under the stable in a side pen (very easy you just pick up the lamb which smell delicious – a lovely ‘puppy’ smell and mum follows along happily), so foxes couldn’t come and ruin our luck, and the mums and lamb could be safe and warm out of the weather. 3 days later another little girl was born. So we have 4 little lambs – 3 girls and 1 very muscley well-conformed boy – perfect!
They noisily bleat, jump high in the air, play chase and head butt. The names are Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme – not that they will ever end up in a pot that’s for sure, all our animals at Morvern Valley have an important job to do – meeting and greeting our farm guests.
