The Original Homestead is the most authentic of all of our three cottages – and a true ‘step back in time experience’ with many original features of a bygone farmhouse of the 1930’s era, it is our most popular cottage but NOT for someone who is seeking a modern ‘bare wall’, ‘repro’ furniture experience – The Original is not for everyone but those who stay there wanting that experience – insist on staying and booking the Original Homestead every time they revisit Morvern Valley. Its called the Original Homestead for a reason its all original and a fantastic step back in time.

If this authenticity is not for you, choose Alecia or Braedon Cottage, built with the same features but less than 15 years old, open plan and still themed with the genuine decor of an earlier era. If you don’t like living in a piece of history, having a taste and living a real farm life for a few days – then Morvern Valley IS NOT the place for you.

Each cottage is styled differently, has a totally separate driveway, and entrance from a quiet country lane. Each cottage has its own BBQ area, parking, fenced private gardens, and even its own hen house for egg collecting fun! Whether you are a Single Guest, a Couple, or a group you get the cottage completely to yourselves.

Linen and Towels are provided. We are well set up with High Chairs, Portacots, DVDs, Fischer Price Toys for even the youngest guest. You won’t need to pack as much when you come to Morvern Valley.

The resultant dusts from the unsealed country lanes, hay bales, wood smoke & fine wood ash from the open fireplaces, pollens, animal dander, frigid air, different environment can all trigger a reaction. The country is a dusty place full of allergens. Think clearly if this is the correct environment based on your families needs and wants. If you have allergy or asthma problems please rethink if Morvern Valley will work for your group before booking.

We have a Certified Wheelchair accessible cottage with ramp, rails and hobless shower – perfect for those who are infirm, and very popular with young mums with prams.

Step back in time – Our Theme – Move over Minimalism

When you visit Morvern Valley Farm it’s just like returning to Grandma’s farm of yesteryear. The Original Homestead, Braedon Cottage and Alecia Cottage are decorated in Early Settler’s Country style with Antiques, Four Poster beds and Kauri Pine dressers.

Each cottage is beautifully decorated with the old fashioned romantic in mind; English Fine Bone China, Fine Irish Linen Cloths, Antique Four Poster Beds with Muslin netting, a Double Heated Spa and an Open Log Wood Fire. Historical photos – showing life in a slower paced era. Shabby Chic style – with the emphasis on the Chic not Shabby. Each cottage has an old fashioned wooden butter churn to show your children, BUT now we have added a modern KILNER glass butter churn with instructions into each cottage – Butter making is a self guided activity within your cottage – show your kids how to make butter – bring room temperature thickened cream and follow the instructions, perhaps add herbs or garlic YUM!

The long verandas are a lovely place, they directly overlook the paddocks, sit down – watch all the farm action from your very own vantage point on a comfy sofa! Each Verandah also has a large hooded BBQ, so you can cook outside watching the chickens & animals go about their daily routines. Or, just relax in the chairs. enjoying a cup of tea in English Bone China Cups

Morvern Valley is 25 acres in size – half cleared farm land with paddocks, and half natural bush land with nature walks, it is traversed by a small creek called Coal Creek.

Inside this Southern Highlands accommodation, it is cosy and completely private – your closest neighbour probably quacks, lays eggs, or whinnies! Children are thrilled to meet the animals and collect the eggs. Ponies, miniature horses, donkeys, goat, cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, peacocks, geese and rabbits, alpacas and other farm animals are friendly, and love a pat, and to be hand fed.

The seasonal or regular activities you may see are shearing, marking and inoculation of our small flock of sheep and our pair of alpacas: the farrier regularly comes to shoe and trim the ponies hooves. Often you can see us round up the horses and the sheep and alpacas to move paddocks, or for shearing and shoeing with our farm vehicles.

Incubation and brooding of chicks and ducklings. Show quality fertile eggs are sold to pure breed chicken fanciers. We exhibit our rare poultry at the regional shows and have won many ribbons and awards. The operation of the farm involves fencing repairs, looking after the land, working on a tractor and farm bikes and caring for the animals who stay here.
